Wall Mounted Airer with Towel Rail | Fold-Down Drying Rack, Stainless Steel

A fold-down drying rack with a lower rail along the front edge. The rack takes the wash; the rail takes the towels that are always draped over something in a bathroom. Doing both from one fixing is the point — one set of holes in the tiles instead of two.

Folded up it sits flat against the wall. Folded down, the bars give a run of drying space at a height where the airflow from a bathroom fan or an open window actually reaches the clothes, rather than the dead air near the floor.

Before you fit it

Into masonry it takes a full load without complaint. Into plasterboard you need cavity fixings rated for the weight; a wet towel is roughly three times its dry weight, and people consistently underestimate that.

Care

Not every part is stainless. The carbon steel sections will mark if they are left wet, so dry the frame after a steamy shower rather than leaving it to drip — that is what keeps it looking new.
